July 27, Fundamentals of Faith: Religious Perspectives on Serious Illness, Advance Care Planning and End of Life

Gateway End-of-Life Coalition presents our 5th Annual Summer Speaker Conference from 8:30 to 11:30 at the Margaret McCormick Doisy Learning Resources Center, 3544 Caroline Mall St Louis, 63104  on the St Louis University's Medical Campus.  A distinguished panel; Reverend Deborah Burch, Chaplain Bob Eigenrauch, Imam Orhan Kaya and Rabbi Dale Schreiber will be moderated by Dr. Gary Behrman.  Attendees will

  • obtain knowledge of a variety of religious beliefs and practices regarding advance care planning and end-of-life issues,
  • develop inclusive attitudes about how diverse religious perspectives inform practice at end-of-life,
  • acquire skills and obtain resources on how to support persons and partners-in-care, in ways that incorporate and respect diverse faith traditions.

This free conference brings together palliative and end-of-life care professionals, educators, students, members of professional organizations and individuals interested in improving end-of-life care. A certificate of Attendance will be distributed.  Three Social Work CEU's are available for $10.00.

August 26 in Kansas City, Grief as a a Mystical Journey and Love Never Dies

Rev. Terri Daniel, MA, CT presents two workshops, one for adults and one for kids.  The first, "Grief as a a Mystical Journey" is an experiential workshop for bereaved individuals and bereavement professionals from 1-5pm.  The second, "Love Never Dies"  is co presented with Steffany Barton, RN from 9-11am.

Monthly Caregiver Classes (various dates)

These classes are designed to support family and friends who provide care at home for loved ones coping with serious health challenges.  There are different topics addressed to educate on how to help with care and to prepare for future/end-of-life needs.  An interested participant can attend one class, any or all classes.
