The Impact of Live Discharge from Hospice on Patients & Caregivers
Research Participant opportunity for patients and caregivers experiencing a live discharge from hospice care.
Dr. Cara Wallace, Social Work faculty at Saint Louis University, was awarded an NIH grant to study live discharge from hospice care. Collaborators on this project include Dr. Stephanie Wladkowski at Eastern Michigan University and Dr. Verna Hendricks-Ferguson and Dr. Leslie Hinyard at Saint Louis University.
The study is currently recruiting participants who have experienced a live discharge from hospice due to decertification from care. This excludes those who choose to leave hospice for hospitalization or to seek additional treatment. For more information click on the links to the right.
Clinicians will receive a $25 Amazon gift card for referrals and your company will receive an entry into a drawing for one of four $500 donations, designated for emergency patient needs.
Purpose: “The Impact of Live Discharge from Hospice on Patients & Caregivers” study will evaluate quality of life, health status, caregiver well- being, healthcare and service utilization during the six-months following hospice discharge.
Referral and Participant Consent: Click here to refer. Once a referral has been received by our team, we will reach out to the patient and/or caregiver to discuss study details, answer any questions, and to receive verbal consent. There will be no consequences if the patient or caregiver decides they do not wish to participate.
