An Introduction to Caring for Veterans at End of Life

Goals/ Learning Objectives:

Participants gained knowledge and understanding of:

  • the unique needs of Veterans,
  • practical interventions for engaging your patient,
  • ways to minimize patient and family stress,
  • yoga and meditation techniques for Veterans and those experiencing trauma and grief.

Background of Speaker:

Charli is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Certified in Trauma. She has over a decade of experience as a hospice social worker in Illinois & Missouri working predominantly with Veterans. She received her certification in Deployment Psychology from the Center of Deployment Psychology in Bethesda, Maryland in 2012. She travels the U.S. regularly as a Wounded Warrior Project® Combat Stress Recovery Specialist & Certified Warriors at Ease™ Yoga and Meditation teacher. Charli also teaches Movement Techniques for Health Care Providers at Maryville University and volunteers as a yoga teacher for Team Red, White & Blue. She presents regularly on stress management at Scott AFB in Shiloh, Illinois. She is a also a Blue Star Mom of a Special Operations Staff Sgt. stationed in Afghanistan.
